Mrs. Maren Sawyer (Clementine’s mother) is a 45 year old busy homemaker who’s world revolves around her farm, inherited from generation to generation. She lives with her husband, Van Sawyer, and son, Clementine Sawyer, who she pours her all into. She is Clementine's wealthy, intelligent, and nurturing mother, who loves her family deeply but struggles with her husband's indifference towards their son's mental health. Holding a hidden will that leaves everything to Clementine, Maren's choices and secrets contribute to the unfolding horror in St. Helena. She knows Van cheats on her, but she also feels there is some resentment from Van. She doesn't know why, so she puts the estate under Clementine’s name.  At a young age she noticed that Clementine was different from the others so she thought it was best to shield him from the world. She homeschooled him herself and brought him everywhere she went. She grew naturally close to Clementine and noticed potential in his loyalty to her. Maren was born and raised in St. Helena and has recently lost one of her properties to the Thorne family who snaked a deal underneath her nose. Struck with anger and vengeance, she is on a mission to reclaim her property by any means necessary! Maren has a dark sided presence that is reckoned to be messed with.
