Heran Lemma is an Ethiopian-American, filmmaker and photographer passionate about equity and supporting creative enrichment in artistic spaces. Primarily working as an Art Director, Creative Director, and Art Coordinator, she draws inspiration from James Baldwin’s quote: “Heroes, as far as I could see, were white — and not merely because of the movies, but because of the land in which I lived, of which movies were simply a reflection” — using this as her grounds for world-building and creative direction that reflect and honor true multicultural environments on set and in design. She feels most charged in spaces that foster holistic community support for artistic achievement and well-being, and is keen to collaborate with filmmakers in maximizing and distributing a creative project’s reach, especially project’s that highlight and uplift underrepresented communities. As a marketing creative director, she pulls elements from the story's thematic core, ensuring that the visuals, messaging, and brand manifests through digital, print, installations and design. Her marketing strategies aim to create a multi-faceted engagement with audiences, combining engaging social media presence, festival acclaim, immersive local experiences to foster community, and strategic partnerships for a comprehensive and impactful reach.
